Svyatogorye chalk - 1 Lb (16oz).
Chalk Monastic Lump
Chalk crispy, uniform, medium hard. Chewed with light fine grains, which completely soaks and dissolves. The monastery chalk tastes like cardboard, paper, smell after rain and wet concrete floor. Pleasant light sweetness at the end.
The monastery arose on a snow-white rocky chalky river bank in the XVI century. He seemed to have grown from these rocks; inside, in chalk caves there are cells and temples cut down in chalk. A huge part of the monastery is located in the thickness of the chalk mountains, among which monks and ascetics spent their lives.
The chalk obtained near this monastery is clean, absolutely edible and healthy. There is even a belief that with a pain in the tooth, one should pray and then gnaw a piece of Monastic chalk with this sick tooth. Perhaps that is why the chalk pillar located in the underground church, on which, according to legend, the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker appeared, was almost completely bitten by pilgrims and almost collapsed. After which the monks overlaid it with brick. This is also confirmed by traditions, according to one of which, the monks who lived in ancient monasteries took chalk for use inside, for more effective healing of the body. According to the same legend, a real monastery chalk is still collected by the monks according to tradition by hand, in unique ecologically clean places. Consecrated chalk contains a unique component: particles of silver trapped in it from water.
