It was only released as a physical cart in Japan, but was only available to North American gamers via the Sega Channel on Sega Genesis. The game was never sold in Europe. It was developed by Game Freak, the development team that would later go on to produce the Pokémon series of games for Nintendo. Which explains the quality and engaging characters.
