A beautifully illustrated book about a tree in the middle of the Santa Fe trail and all the history that passed it by. The story of a cottonwood tree that watched the pageant of history on the Santa Fe Trail where it stood, a landmark to travelers and a peace-medicine tree to Indians, for over 200 years. At last, a wagon train felled the tree and the tree made it's own way down the trail.
