Antique Victorian Hand Colored Photograph Mother & Daughters Chicago 1901
Welcome! Presenting an antique colored photo of a Victorian mother and two daughters titled at the center bottom of the photo "Rivals" and stamped at the bottom right "Copyright 1901 JJ Austen & Co. Chicago". It is matted and framed under glass and the frame itself measures 13 1/2 inches wide and 11 1/2 inches long. It is made of wood with a bronze detail finish. The photo itself measures 8 inches wide by 6 inches high at the highest point. It is hand colored and features the mother seated on a wooden chair in front of a Victorian settee, with a book in her lap. One daughter is presenting her with a bunch of hydrangea flowers, while the other daughter looks on from the right by a stool. Presumably both daughters are vying for their mother's attention.
PLEASE NOTE: I have not unframed this, so I cannot verify the condition of the photo paper under the frame and mat. The visible image is in good, intact condition. There is a dried moisture mark at the upper right of the mat. The bronze finish of the wooden frame has a lot of wear and some stripping. The cardboard backing is worn and has dried moisture marks on it. The nails that hold it in are a mix of newer and old. The picture wire is rusty. But again, the image looks to be in good condition.
