Onion Yellow Spanish Early is a large, globe-shaped yellow-skinned onion with a crisp, firm white flesh that keeps well for a few months. This variety grows well in intermediate day areas if planted early and grows quickly without much fuss. Before harvesting, make sure the thick, heavy neck dries well, and it will store for several months in a cool, dry place. This variety is tolerant to pink root.
Sow 5mm deep, in rows 30cm apart. Cover with fine soil and keep moist, thin seedlings early to 2cm and later to 10cm apart. Prepare the soil well by adding organic material and a pre-planting fertiliser. Seedlings emerge 10-14 days.
