Some varieties of eggplants have an unusual mushroom taste that makes them spicy. All such varieties are collected in a special Round mix, which has been popular in the United States for a long time. These fleshy fruits weigh from 4 to 8 oz, are not bitter and their white, dense, juicy, and tender pulp contains only a few seeds. The varieties of this mix are characterized by a long cyclic fruiting period, from early to mid-season, with the first harvest 60-70 days after transplanting. Plants are compact, grow to a height of 12 to 15 inches, and do not require support.
