This young plant ranges from 3 to 6 inches and ships in a 3-inch-deep pot to keep your shipping costs at a minimum and to allow it to grow to maturity under your green thumb. The Alocasia Sarian, or African Mask, will add bold brilliance to your garden or household with its huge, wavy leaves with striped, yellow mid-ribs. If your plant doesn't look just like the picture, give it a little time to grow up. Elephant Ears' attributes become even more defined when they mature. The first picture shows a mature plant and the second shows typical sizes we ship, although it can be closer to 3 to 6 inches depending on the growth stage it's in.

Mature height: Typically 5-6 feet but can reach up to 12 feet in good growing conditions.

Soil: Well-drained. Keep moist but not soggy.

Dormant Stage: During the cold and dark of fall and winter, this plant goes into dormancy, so your order may arrive with no leaves. No fear. This is an important part of the growing cycle in which the plant is strengthening its root system. It's still a healthy plant that will begin growing new leaves in spring when there is more light and warmer temperatures during the day and night.
