Astilbe arendsii 'Heavy Metal'. The beauty features upright fluffy cherry red flowers. The artistically etched dark green leaves look wonderful, with or without flowers. A member of the "Music Series" of astilbe, comprising compact astilbe with twice as many flowers as the standard variety.

Astilbe are wonderful hardy perennials that can grow in full sun, part sun or shade. As with most perennials Astilbe grow best in well draining soil. Astilbe prefer consistently moist soil. If they are allowed to dry out they may go dormant. They are a good choice for containers. The fragrant flowers can be dried or added to fresh flower bouquets. The foliage is very attractive even without blossoms. Astilbe are generally resistant to deer and rabbits. Our Astilbe are some of the best available on the market today. All of our astilbe are of blooming age/size.
