Antique Opal Rose Cut Lavaliere Necklace River Pearl Vintage Edwardian Victorian c.1900

A Superb Antique Opal and Rose Cut Lavaliere Necklace Pendant with Original River Pearl Drop, Vintage Edwardian - Late Victorian c.1900. This incredible antique original piece dates to the late Victorian to Edwardian Period, circa 1900. The center holds a fascinating natural boulder opal with flashes of violets and greens when in the light. The opal measures about 11 x 14mm oval. The opal is joined by antique rose cut marcasites, Marcasites have been used for centuries as a substitute for rose cut diamonds. The bottom of the pendant has the original antique river pearl drop, which are hard to find. The setting is antique 935 Silver, higher silver content than Sterling silver and has the original deep patina finish acquired over decades of time. The chain is also silver and is original antique period. Overall the pendant measures about 1 3/4 inches long with pearl drop by about 7/8 inch wide. The entire necklace measures about 17 inches long. Being 935 silver, it is most likely European in origin. This piece dates circa 1900 and is in lovely vintage condition. A rare original find sure to please for many years to come.
