Dawn Redwood are difficult to germinate as they are very particular about the conditions they need for germination. ... After 2 weeks, the seeds should be ready to sow and will need to be placed at around room temperature (21 C/70 F for germination.
Seeds are very small and germination is slow. Soak in warm water for 24 hours, (a thermos is ideal) then cold stratify for 30 days in the fridge. Plant in rich soil just below the surface cover your pot with plastic wrap and a rubber band, or place in a baggie. Keep soil consistently moist, but not soaking wet.
This tree grows at a fast rate, with height increases of more than 24" per year.
