A forest of beautiful white-barked birch trees. Birches are hardy, quick growing, and most require moist, sandy and loamy soil for solid growth.
Whitespire birch trees (Betula platyphylla japonica 'Whitespire') are deciduous trees with an annual growth rate of 12 to 18 inches. They grow up to 40 feet tall and 25 feet wide.
Sow the seeds in individual 5-inch greenhouse pots filled with a mix of equal parts coarse sand, milled peat and potting soil. Press the seeds onto the surface and cover them with a 1/16-inch-thick layer of coarse sand. Mist the sand liberally after sowing.
It boasts white bark and dense, dark green foliage that turns golden in late fall. This fast growing variety is suitable for gardens, screens or boulevards.
