MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN COLLECTING OLD TIME RADIO SHOWS FOR A LONG TIME NOW. HE LISTENS TO THEM WHILE HE IS WORKING IN THE DARKROOM.
WE THOUGHT WE WOULD SHARE THEM WITH OTHERS SO THEY COULD ENJOY THEM ALSO.
Police Headquarters was a rare 1932 crime radio drama, lasted for about 12 minutes, was syndicated to radio stations.
There is not much information on who did the acting. But interesting is that the unknown music filled up in the first
part of the show, after an announcer would do a commercial or two.
The police in the drama would investigate a murder, a bank robbery, and etc. finding who did it, and ends up finding the real criminals accused of crimes.
Based off the successes of Nicholas Boilvin Harris, Nick Harris is a top sleuth of the early 1900s. The real man Nick Harris was a police reporter for the LA Times when he was asked to join the Los Angeles Police Department by the captain of the LAPD.
In 1906, a few years later, Nick Harris started his own detective agency and went on to create the Nick Harris
Professional Detective School. He and his colleagues solved even the most baffling of crimes. Rivaling the likes of Sherlock Holmes, Nick Harris became such a popular figure that this old time radio show was created. So get out your magnifying glass and your handlebar moustache, because it is time to sleuth around!
A few of the rare recordings in this collection may be of inferior sound.
Not a great deal is known about the production of the Matthew Slade, P.I. radio show. It was syndicated in the 1960s and Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS) aired it under a title they made up: "Starlight Mystery Theater". Apaprently 13 shows have survived (most of them AFRS copies.)MATTHEW SLADE is a San Francisco investigator and his secretary, Lorretta Jones, is referred to by all as "Jonesy." Slade's local pal in the Homicide Bureau, Sgt. Sid Donelli, appears in nearly all episodes. Slade charges clients "$200 a day plus expences", drives a Continental, and ends up in some rather exotic adventures. In one program, a model named Clover Shannon is killed by one of 12 members of an exclusive "Bachelor's Club". In another, Slade is tortured by a crazed German scientist, who has imprisoned Slade in his castle near Lake Tahoe.
