Old Time Radio Shows
Blackstone The Magic Detective
55 Episodes
MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN COLLECTING OLD TIME RADIO SHOWS FOR A LONG TIME NOW. HE LISTENS TO THEM WHILE HE IS WORKING IN THE DARKROOM.
WE THOUGHT WE WOULD SHARE THEM WITH OTHERS SO THEY COULD ENJOY THEM ALSO.
Blackstone, the Magic Detective was a 15-minute radio series which aired Sunday afternoons at 2:45pm ET on the Mutual Broadcasting System from October 3, 1948 until April 3, 1949.
The series, starring Ed Jerome as "the world's greatest living magician," was based on real-life magician Harry Blackstone Sr. Storylines usually opened with Blackstone (Jerome) telling his friends John (Ted Osborne) and Rhoda (Fran Carlon) about an experience from his past, and this mystery story was then dramatized in a flashback. At the end, Blackstone challenged the audience to find a solution to the magical mystery.
At the end of each episode Blackstone would tell the audience how to do a magic trick that anyone can do using simple household materials. For example, in “The Reluctant Buzzsaw” he does not tell little kids how to saw someone in half, but tells them how to trick their friends with coins. A wise choice on behalf of the show producers I think.
THERE ARE 55 Episodes ON 1 CD AND THEY ARE IN MP3 FORMAT. THEY WILL PLAY ON ANY COMPUTER AND SOME CD PLAYERS THAT ARE MARKED PLAYS MP3s. YOU CAN EASILY BURN THEM TO A CD SO YOU CAN PLAY ON YOUR CAR SYSTEM. I HAVE THEM ON MY ZUNE AND ONE OF MY FRIENDS HAS THEM ON HIS I-POD. REMEMBER THEY ARE IN MP3 FORMAT AND WILL NOT PLAY ON MOST CD PLAYERS.
