This is a great Edwardian cut glass vanity jar with a sterling top. The markings on it make it appear to be from Birmingham, England, possibly dating from 1902-1902. It has an anchor; the lion facing left; and a "b"seemingly from cycle VI. There are also initials "JB" inside a rectangle.
The glass jar is intricately cut and has the starburst on the bottom. The neck is silver with ridges for a twist on top. The top has alternating florals and cross-hatched panels. The silver appears to be applied over a wooden base. The twist rings on the inside of the neck are slightly flattened. The top fits on fine, but it doesn't need to screw down as originally made. The top has a break in the silver above the hallmarks that you may be able to see in one of the photos. The overall appearance is remarkably nice, however, as you can also see from the photos.
