The "heart to heart talks" by the author on the choice of companions, safeguarding reputation, proper conduct and dress, promotion of health and happiness, character building, etc.-under the general head of "Learning to, Live"- are designed to inspire girls with a desire to live noble, useful, successful, happy lives; and arouse mothers to the importance of giving their daughters wise counsel, wholesome advice and helpful instruction, and to teach them the art of meeting these responsibilities, that girls may arrive at the dawn of glorious young womanhood without spot or blemish and in full possession of all their natural powers.
We doubt whether a more interesting, more inspiring, more helpful volume for girls and their mothers was ever written. It is, in a large sense, a contribution by Mrs. Spaller to "her girls" everywhere of her peculiar talent, years of preparation for the task of writing such a book. and her extensive experience and many years of professional activities. Her highest purpose has been to draw girls, whom she loves, into paths that lead to a life of greater health, happiness, influence and power.
Probably no other women in America is better qualified to write a volume of this character than the author, Mrs. Louise Francis Spaller... (1921)
