Not sure of the exact origin of this bowl so I am just calling it South Pacific. It reminds me of Gaugain and thus Tahiti but it is marked Made in Japan on the bottom.
The bowl is all wood, with the finishing details hand carved. I call it a nut bowl because of the raised round in the center. However I've had it for years and never used it for nuts.
The inside of the bowl has a floral design etched into the bottom that has been colored persimmon and green with ochre flower centers.
The bowl is 7 inches in diameter and has a depth of 2 inches. Condition is very good vintage. I've had it a long time and didn't buy it new but it has obviously never been used except as a decorative or catch-all. It is a nice piece and I enjoy it but I just have too much to keep it all.
