What Umckalor is and what it is used for
Umckalor is a herbal medicine intended to reduce the symptoms of acute bronchitis and relieve expectoration.

What you should know before using Umckalo r
Umckalor should not be used:

if you are allergic to Pelargonium sidoides (pelargonium root) extract or any of the excipients of this medicine (they are listed in section 6);

if you have severe liver disease, as there is not enough experience.

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Umckalor:

if you have any kind of liver problems.

If your condition does not improve within 7 days, the temperature persists for several days, shortness of breath is bothersome or you cough up bloody sputum, or any kind of liver dysfunction occurs, consult a doctor.

Other medicines and Umckalor

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, or if you are not sure.

Interactions with other drugs have not been observed so far.

Due to Umckalor's potential effect on blood clotting, it cannot be ruled out that Umckalor enhances the effects of anticoagulants such as phenprocoumon and warfarin.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

The drug should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as there is insufficient data on the use of the drug during this period.

Driving and machine control

Umckalor does not affect the ability to drive and use machines.

Umckalor contains ethanol (alcohol)

This medicine contains a small amount of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100 mg per dose.

How to use Umckalor
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is:

a) for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age, drink 30 drops 3 times a day,
b) children from 6 to 12 years of age drink 20 drops 3 times a day,
c) for small children from 1 to 5 years, drink 10 drops 3 times a day.
Drink the drops with a small amount of water in the morning, during the day and in the evening.

Keep the bottle upright, if necessary, shake it lightly.

Duration of treatment

When the symptoms of the disease subside, it is recommended to continue using Umckalor for several days to prevent a relapse. The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 weeks.

What to do if you overdose on Umckalor?

After an overdose of Umckalor, no symptoms have been observed so far.

If you forget to take Umckalor

Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Continue to take Umckalor as prescribed by your doctor or as described in this package leaflet.

If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The side effects listed include all reactions observed during treatment with Umckalor, even those that occurred at a higher dose or for a longer period of time.

Uncommon (affects less than 1 in 100 but more than 1 in 1,000 people treated)

Digestive tract ailments.

Rare (affects less than 1 in 1,000 but more than 1 in 10,000 people treated)

Slight nosebleeds.

Slight bleeding from the gums.

Hypersensitivity reactions.

Frequency not known (cannot be estimated from the available data)

Liver dysfunction of any kind; a causal relationship between these data and the use of the drug has not been proven.

How to store Umckalor
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Store at a temperature not higher than 30 °C.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and label after EXP. The drug is suitable for use until the last day of the specified month.

After first opening the bottle, the shelf life of the solution is 3 months.

Medicines must not be disposed of in the sewer or with household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of unnecessary medicines. These measures will help protect the environment.

Package contents and other information
Umckalor composition

The active substance is a liquid extract of the roots of pelargonium ( Pelargonium sidoides) . 1 g (= 0.975 ml) of solution contains 800 mg of geranium root liquid extract (1:8-10). Extraction solvent: 11% (w/w) ethanol.

The excipient is glycerol (85%).

What Umckalor looks like and what it contains

Umckalor is a light brown or reddish brown liquid.

The package contains 20 ml and 50 ml of solution.
