The bottle tree is semi-deciduous and reaches a height of 18 to 20 meters. However, if planted in cooler areas are usually smaller. The leaves are about one hundred millimeters long and fall from the tree before they flower. The yellowish, bell-shaped, or campanulate, flowers usually form between October and December in clusters at the ends of the branches.
The bottle tree is hardy in a variety of climates despite its slow growth. The bottle-shaped trunk may begin to show at around 5-8 years of age. It tolerates a variety of soil types.
Can also be planted as a BONSAI tree.
