The Bird's Nest Anthurium Superbum, is an easy to grow prehistoric looking, well suited for interiorscapes, containers and tropical landscapes. The Pink Arrowhead Plant Syngonium - 'Neon Robusta’ (Syngonium podophyllum) Beautiful pink cultivar of the popular arrowhead vine family. These subtropical climbers are a super versatile species, able to happily grow as a bushy houseplant, an outdoor vine or as a terrarium plant. The size and growth pattern of this plant is heavily shaped by its environment, but you can still expect the pink arrowhead vine to grow vigorously in a terrarium. The juvenile leaves of the pink syngonium strongly exhibit that characteristic arrowhead shape, but you can expect them to change a lot as they mature. The leaves of fully grown plants actually develop into broad multilobed shapes where the arrow softens and widens, but you can expect to wait a long time for this to happen. Syngonium ‘Neon Robusta’ makes a gorgeous addition to larger terrariums where it has room to flourish, or open terrariums that spill out with trailing wild growth. As a vine that’s used to weaving its way through the rainforest canopy, bright filtered light is what the pink arrowhead vine favours. That being said, it’s pretty forgiving on the lower spectrum too. Just keep out of direct sunlight to protect the soft foliage and to keep its pink colours bright. The pink syngonium likes to be evenly moist, but it has a reasonable tolerance for drought too. It should fare well in a range of closed terrarium conditions as long as there’s sufficient moisture in the system. This versatile species isn’t overly fussy about what it’s planted in, but mimicking its native tropical environment is always a good option. A light substrate mix with good aeration, water retention and drainage is ideal for Syngonium ‘Neon Robusta’. The fact that it’s not frost hardy shouldn’t be much of an issue in a terrarium, but it’s still important to maintain a room temperature above 10°C (50°F) and avoid areas with cold drafts or wide temperature fluctuations. Humidity is less critical, but the pink arrowhead vine will appreciate the higher air moisture in a closed terrarium environment. When it comes to growth, Syngonium ‘Neon Robusta’ is quite versatile. It can grow to a variety of sizes depending on the environment and how it’s planted, but terrarium conditions should temper its growth to some degree. With a max height in a terrarium expected to be 20-30 inches, it will probably need a regular trim unless it’s planted in a suitably large container.
