Sideritis scardica is a high mountain Balkan species very famous for the medicinal properties attributed to it, properties that have brought it to the brink of extinction. Its flowers are consumed to flavor food, but above all to make a tea with them which is known as Musala Tea or Bulgarian Viagra. This last name is due to the fact that it is massively consumed in the area since aphrodisiac and fertility-boosting properties are attributed to it, as well as antioxidant effects just as powerful as the Tea plant (but without having its negative effects as it does not contain caffeine as the commonly consumed Tea).
