The Japanese elm or zelkova from Japan is a very popular Asian tree among bonsai lovers. It is a deciduous tree of considerable size that does not usually exceed 40 meters in height, widely cultivated for its great ornamental value throughout the world, it is also interesting to form bonsais and has innumerable varieties. Its greenish flowers are inconspicuous, its fruits similar to a pea and its foliage acquires striking colorful tones in autumn.
SOWING:
It requires a previous treatment that consists of a stratification of 2 months in cold, then leave the seeds to soak for a day to later sow them in a seedbed with a sandy substrate in a sheltered place that is warm and bright.
Irregular germination, it can last from a few weeks to several months, so it is not convenient to despair if you do not see results in a month, much less discard the seeds.
