Adenium (Adenium obesum) is part of the Apocynaceae family. A succulent perennial native to the semi-arid regions of East and South-West Africa, the adenium is an original plant in many ways. Its base, swollen sometimes partially buried, takes on a very characteristic bottle shape when young, giving it the appearance of a small tree. The slender, spineless branches bear groups of oval terminal leaves at their ends, of a beautiful glossy green. The flowers, 5 cm in diameter, resemble those of the oleander. In its original environment the plant can reach a height of 2 meters for 1.5 meters of spreading.
