This species of Chinese hibiscus behaves in our temperate regions like other species such as coccineus, its aerial part is destroyed in winter and grows back in spring.
From the month of July the branched bush easily reaches 2 meters in height, often more.
The flowers open pure white, changing color within three days, becoming deep pink, then dying pink-purple. The main characteristic of this bush is that 3 colors of flowers are found there at the same time, hence its somewhat mysogynistic nickname of Caprice de femme.
The flowers appear from August to November. They are about 12 cm in diameter. Sometimes they are double.
The broad, non-evergreen leaves are 15 cm in diameter, light green, hairy below and deeply lobed.
