Small shrub native to the Mediterranean basin with evergreen dark green foliage. 2 to 3 meters high, with a bushy habit, generally rounded in shape.
The opposite, evergreen, oval, leathery, entire leaves are dark green in color and have a short petiole.
The white flowers (pink when still in bud: see photo), are grouped together in the form of umbels. Flowering is winter: it takes place from the beginning of December to mid-March
The fleshy, globular fruits, about 5 mm in diameter, are shiny, dark blue in color when ripe, in spring. The shrub is therefore also very decorative in spring
Used as an ornamental shrub but also in hedges, and often grown in pots and trained as a tall stem in the form of a rounded ball.
