This species produces nectar that attracts butterflies and other insects, hence its common name “Butterfly tree”.
Leaves: opposite, lanceolate, 10 to 30 cm long. Slightly toothed edges, almost dark green upper side
glabrous, hairy white underside.
Flowers: grouped in dense, pointed inflorescences measuring about 35 cm long.
