Indications:
Espumisan is used for the symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal disorders associated with excessive accumulation of gases in the digestive tract, such as flatulence and infantile colic. As an aid in infantile intestinal colic in infants over 1 month of age. Supports in preparing patients for radiological and ultrasound examinations of the abdominal cavity and gastroscopy. As an agent that reduces foaming of the gastrointestinal contents in poisoning with surfactants (detergents).
Features:
The active substance of Espumisan is simethicon - a stable, surface-active polydimethylsiloxane. It reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles contained in food and gastrointestinal mucus, causing them to burst. Thanks to this, gases released in this way can be absorbed by the intestinal wall or removed from the digestive tract as a result of intestinal peristaltic movements.
Simethicone has only a surface effect and does not enter into any chemical reactions. It is a pharmacologically neutral substance.
Simethicone is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration and is excreted unchanged.
Contraindications:
Do not use in case of allergy (hypersensitivity) to the active substance - simethicone or to any of the other excipients of Espumisan.
How to use:
Shake before use. To measure the appropriate number of drops, hold the bottle vertically, with the opening facing downwards.
Infants over 1 month of age: 1 ml - 2 ml (20 - 40 drops), corresponding to 40-80 mg of simethicone, daily in 2 (2 times a day, 10-20 drops) to 4 (4 times a day, 5-10 drops) drops) in divided doses, the total daily dose not exceeding 80 mg.
Espumisan should be added to a bottle of milk or given on a spoon before or after breastfeeding.
Children from 1 to 6 years: 1 ml (20 drops), equivalent to 40 mg of simethicone, 3 to 5 times a day.
Children from 6 to 14 years: 1 ml - 2 ml (20 - 40 drops), equivalent to 40-80 mg of simethicone, 3 to 5 times a day.
Adolescents and adults: 2 ml (40 drops), equivalent to 40 mg of simethicone, 3 to 5 times a day.
Composition:
Active substance: simethicone. Excipients: hydroxypropylcellulose, sorbic acid, sodium cyclamate, sodium saccharin, banana flavor, purified water.
