Essentiale Forte is a dietary supplement containing essential phospholipids, primarily phosphatidylcholine, derived from soybeans. These phospholipids are important components of cell membranes throughout the body, including liver cells. The product may be used as a complementary treatment for various liver conditions, including fatty liver disease (steatosis), hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and liver damage caused by alcohol abuse or medication toxicity. It may help improve liver function and reduce inflammation and damage to liver cells.

The use of Essentiale Forte cannot replace the exclusion from the diet of harmful substances that cause liver damage (such as alcohol).
