The Fuzzy Papers by H. Beam Piper ➤ Nelson Doubleday, Inc. 1964 Book Club Edition [H 03]
Title: The Fuzzy Papers
Author: H. Beam Piper
Format: Hardcover
Publisher: Doubleday, Inc. 1964
Edition: Book Club Edition [H 03]
Size: 5.5 x 8.5 * 399 pages
Synopsis: From the jacket: What's the most enchanting science fiction creation since the Tribbles tackled the U.S.S. Enterprise? The answer, of course, is Little Fuzzy. From out of the imagination of noted author H. Beam Piper, he first began charming SF audiences back in 1962 -with the publication of LITTLE FUZZY. Shortly afterward, a second novel, THE OTHER HUMAN RACE, also appeared to the delight of SF fans everywhere. Now both books are once again available in a giant two-in-one volume created especially for the Science Fiction Book Club.
In the first exciting tale, you'll travel halfway across the galaxy to Zarathustra a Class III uninhabited planet run lock, stock and barrel by interplanetary mining magnate Victor Grego. He developed it, exploited it and reaped huge profits without any interference from the Star Federation.
But then, out of nowhere, came freelance prospector Jack Holloway. He'd been combing over Zarathustra for several years with little result- that is, of course, until he met the Fuzzies.
The creatures had two wide eyes and were covered all over with a silky golden fur. They had round heads and big ears and vaguely humanoid faces with little snub noses. But even more intriguing than their almost appearance was their power to reason and act in a very rational human fashion.
If the Fuzzies were a race of intelligent beings, then Zarathustra would automatically become a Class IV inhabited planet, and Victor Grego's mining privileges would be over. His affluent company wasn't going to allow that to happen...not at any cost!
And the troubles multiply in THE OTHER HUMAN RACE, as Jack Holloway goes after a band of unscrupulous space rovers who capture Fuzzies and force them to steal supplies of Zarathustra's sun-stones- the most precious gems in the universe. To make matters worse, the Fuzzies may soon die out because of a genetic disease that threatens their entire race. And, to Jack's horror, there's nothing medical science can do to stop the dreaded malady....
Overall Condition: Very good: The book does not look new and has been read but is in excellent condition. There is no obvious damage to the cover the dust jacket (with minor wear and tear) is included. There are no missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, and no underlining/highlighting of text or writing in the margins. It may have very minimal identifying marks on the inside cover as well as very minimal wear and tear. See images.
