Title: Trap For Perseus
Author: Ludek Pesek
Format: Hardcover
Publisher: Bradbury Press 1980
Edition: 1st American Edition
ISBN 10: 0878881603
Size: 5.75 x 8.5 * 168 pages
Synopsis: From the jacket: Within the world of spaceship Argo, common terrestrial certainties are reversed. The "sun" hangs at the center of her 60-kilometer length, banana plantations, corn fields, rice paddies, even lakes flourish above as well as beneath the bare feet of her inhabitants, held with them against her cylindrical outer walls by the ship's rotation. Argo slipped mysteriously from radio contact with Earth 200 years ago. But - unknown to anyone able to report it - the spaceship did not perish. Her 120,000 crew members adapted to life in deep space, and as they did their old ideas of peace, happiness and morality evolved too, and took on new meanings.
The year is 2275, the problem one of a lone man's survival.
Was the apparent haven of Argo's entry hatch, or the power of Argo ideology, the real "trap for Perseus"? Commander Steve Blair, of transplutonian spacecraft Perseus III, discovers the answer for himself as Engineer Nichols of Perseus II had done before him. Nichols, it happens, is unsettlingly alive in the "mountains of Argo.
Ludek Pesek's novel, shot through with visions of eerie, spangled beauty, ranks with the finest of philosophical science fiction.
Overall Condition: Very good: The book does not look new and has been read but is in excellent condition. There is no obvious damage to the cover the dust jacket (with minor wear and tear) is included.
