Magnesium Diasporal 400 mg, granules for oral solution, is the only medication containing pure magnesium citrate in the form in which it occurs as a building block in the body.
A sufficiently high dose of magnesium should be taken in order to compensate a magnesium deficiency effectively. The World Health Organization (WHO) declares a daily dose of 400 mg of magnesium for the therapy of a magnesium deficiency.
When using Magnesium Diasporal® products, you decide whether you wish to take the recommended daily dose all at once or whether you would like tospread it over two to three doses per day.

Magnesium for cramp in the calf and muscle tension: most common reason is the lack of magnesium.
Cramp of the calf muscles is annoying and painful, especially when it occurs at night and disturbs our nightly rest. Calf cramps and muscle tension are typical symptoms of acute magnesium deficiency. The frequency of calf cramp increases with age, which is why older patients often complain about such symptoms. Also pregnant women.
But calf cramp and muscle tension also affect athletes, especially endurance athletes.
High muscular activity and sweating lead to magnesium consumption and losses that can significantly impair athletic performance.
Tip: A dose of magnesium to prevent calf cramp is recommended in the evening before going to bed.
With normal renal function, magnesium can be taken as a long-term oral therapy. Excess magnesium is excreted via the kidneys.
Only magnesium therapy, ideally with gentle-action magnesium citrate, gets to the root of the problem and is, therefore, suitable for a long-term therapy with a low risk of side effects.
Magnesium for migraine and headaches
Over 150 different types of pain can be experienced within the head. Magnesium citrate can help alleviate such pain.
Who's never experienced sharp, throbbing or dull pressure?
Headaches manifest themselves in many different ways, science knows more than 150 of them.
Some people are sensitive to weather fluctuations, for example. Persistent stress or tension in the neck and shoulders might also trigger headaches.
What is the trigger?
Headaches and migraines can have different causes.
In addition to a genetic disposition, stress, lack of sleep, hormonal disorders and muscle tension are all triggers.
Tobacco and alcohol are also classic headache triggers.
A magnesium deficiency often contributes to the development of headaches.
Studies involving migraine patients have shown a clear deficiency of magnesium in the blood.
A magnesium deficiency leads to the over-agitation of the muscle and nerve fibres.
The result is tension in the neck and shoulders, which then leads to a tension headache. Furthermore, this may cause a restriction of the vessels in the brain with the possibility of triggering a migraine.
On this basis, an adequate supply of the essential-for-life mineral magnesium is highly recommended for the prevention of tension-related headaches and as a migraine prophylaxis.
We recommend 2 x 1 sticks of Magnesium-Diasporal 400 mg, granules for oral solution, per day. This should be taken regularly for at least a period of 3 months. With normal kidney function, Magnesium-Diasporal4 can be taken on a long-term basis.
Magnesium and diabetes
Diabetic patients need more magnesium!
Diabetic patients very often have an inadequate magnesium intake.
Numerous studies have proven that Type 2 diabetic patients often have a low serum magnesium level.
This is caused by the elevated blood glucose values that result in a changed renal function and in consequence, to an increased excretion of magnesium via the urine.
How can a diabetic patient recognise a magnesium deficiency?
Magnesium participates in more than 300 metabolic processes in the body.
A magnesium deficiency can therefore make itself known with numerous signals. Typical symptoms for a magnesium deficiency are:muscle cramps, muscular tension unrest, nervousness, irritability headaches, migraines cardiac arrhythmias sleep disorders.
A magnesium deficiency can be diagnosed by measuring the magnesium concentration in the blood.
An inadequate intake can occur despite the magnesium values in the blood being normal however, as the body balances out a magnesium deficiency in the blood by releasing magnesium from the bones, for example.
In addition to the blood tests, one should therefore also watch out for the above signals!
Does magnesium reduce the risk of diabetes?
Studies have provided unanimous proof that a low magnesium level in the blood represents a strongly increased risk of contracting type 2 diabetes. The opposite has also been proven: an increased magnesium intake reduces the risk of having Type 2 diabetes.
A meta-analysis resulted in the determination of a 15% reduction of the diabetes risk for each 100mg of consumed magnesium.
Which magnesium?
Food includes magnesium in an organic form, e.g. as magnesium citrate. Magnesium citrate also occurs as a building block in the body. Therefore, it is gentle and rapidly active.
Magnesium-Diasporal 400 mg, granules for oral solution contains pure and gentle acting magnesium citrate.
Intake recommendation: 1 stick per day - with a 24h long-term effect.
The entire Diasporal does not contain lactose, gluten, iodine or preservatives.
