Synopsis: From the Preface: This book has grown out of 23 years of experimental work with farm animals at Auburn University, at Mississippi State University, and at Texas A & M University (where the author served as Professor and Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry) and out of research in nutrition with the Educational Service of the National Cottonseed Products Association, followed by 23 years of research at the U.S. Rabbit Experiment Station, Fontana, California. Its object is to assist the rabbit breeders, extension specialists, milling industry, teachers, students, leaders and members of 4-H Clubs, Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups, and FFA organizations with rabbit production problems.
The rabbit industry is developing rapidly and substantially and as it is relatively young and there is considerable confusion in connection with breeding, feeding and managing a herd of rabbits, an attempt has been made to present information gained from practical experience and scientific studies in a clear and concise manner. In some instances more minute details have been given than would appear necessary to an individual rabbit raiser but on the other hand these details may be extremely important to another with a specific problem. As each herd presents an individual problem, selection may be made of the information that will be most useful in helping solve that problem. If the author has succeeded in furnishing information that will make it possible for one to derive more pleasure and profit from a herd of rabbits, he will feel that a contribution has been made toward further development and stabilization of the industry.
Overall Condition: Good ++ It has very minimal wear to the cover and no holes or tears. The dust jacket, if issued, is not included. The binding has minimal wear. The pages are undamaged with no creasing or tearing, no pencil underlining of text, no highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. There are no missing pages; see images.
