Mezym Forte 10000- 20 coated tablets

Pancreatin with minimum activity of:
Amylase 7500 Ph. Eur. Units
Lipase 10000 Ph. Eur. Units
Protease 375 Ph. Eur. Units
It helps to digest proteins, fats, carbohydrates and absorb it in the small intestine. It is used for digestive problems, lack of secretory and digestive ability of the stomach and intestines, flatulence, diarrhea (including the states after resection of the stomach and small intestine, chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis).
Indications:
• insufficiency of exocrine pancreatic function (cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, etc.).
• dyspepsia;
• gastrocardiac syndrome (Remhelda syndrome);
• flatulence;
• condition after resection of the stomach or small intestine;
• functional accelerating the passage of food through the intestines (with nervousness, intestinal infections/colics);
• consumption of fat or indigestible food;
• chronic disorders of the hepatobiliary system;
• chemical decontamination before diagnostic procedures
• meteorism
• degassing bowel prior to diagnostic tests (preparation for the ultrasound and X-ray study of the abdominal cavity
Usage:
1-2 tablets with meals and a glass of water
Mezym forte is taken orally before or during a meal without chewing, with plenty of fluids.
Don't increase the dosage unless you are under the supervision of a physician.
The duration of treatment may vary from a single dose or a few days to a few months / years (permanent replacement therapy).
Kids - is usually prescribed for normalization of stools, but not higher than 1500 IU of lipase per 1 kg of body weight of a child under the age of 12 years.
For children aged 12-18 years daily dose should not exceed 15,000-20,000 IU of lipase per 1 kg of body weight.
Coplications
Individual intolerance (including a history of hypersensitivity) components Mezym forte (including pork);
acute pancreatitis or exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis.
Side effects:
Allergic reactions of immediate type.
Symptoms of intestinal obstruction in cystic fibrosis patients after receiving Mezym forte in high doses (possibly stricture formation in the ileocecal site and in the ascending colon).
With prolonged usage of Mezym forte in high doses hyperuricosuria and hyperuricemia (necessary to control the content of urate in the urine) may develop .
Precautions:
Mezim Forte is contraindicated for use in patients with:
Individual intolerance of any of the medication ingredients
Acute pancreatitis or aggravation of chronic pancreatitis
Mezim Forte contains active enzymes which can damage the mucous lining of the oral cavity. That is why tablets should be swallowed whole without chewing. Mezim forte should not be used in patients with galactose intolerance, lactose deficiency or with syndrome of glucose and galactose malabsoption.
Make sure to let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Mezym forte does not affect when driving and operating machinery.
Drug Interactions:
With prolonged use Mezym forte reduces the absorption of iron.
Antacids that contain calcium carbonate or magnesium hydroxide may reduce the effectiveness of Mezym forte.
Storage:
