BISALAX 5 mg gastro-resistant tablets contain:
Bisacodyl 5 mg Positive substances: lactose monohydrate, wheat starch, anhydrous colloidal silicon, talc, magnesium stearate, gelatin.Film coating; methacrylic acid methyl methacrylate copolymer (1: 1), macrogol 6000, macrogol 400, castor oil, polysorbate 80, titanium dioxide, talc, color E 104.
1. WHAT IS BISALAX AND WHAT IT IS APPLICABLE
BISALAX is a medicinal product with a laxative effect that has a local action on the lining of the large intestine. It is hydrolyzed by the intestinal fermentation and stimulates the peristalsis, the accumulation of fluids and electrolytes in the cavity of the colon.
Applies to:
• Constipation (constipation);
• Preparation for diagnostic procedures;
• pre- and post-operative treatment;
• Need to facilitate the onset of defecation in hemorrhoids, anal fistulas and ragades.
2. BEFORE YOU START TO TAKE BIZALAC Biazax does not apply to:
· hypersensitivity (allergy) to the active and / or any of the excipients of the product;
· intestinal obstruction;
· acute surgical abdomen, appendicitis, acute enteritis;
· severe dehydration (dehydration).
When using this medicine, be aware of the following:

Important information about some of the ingredients of Bisalax
The medicinal product contains wheat starch and may pose a danger to people with celiac disease (gluten enteropathy). The medicinal product contains lactose, making it unsuitable for patients with lactase deficiency, galactose, or glucose / galactose malabsorption syndrome.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have taken any other medicines, including medicines not prescribed by your doctor! The use of high doses of Bisalax and diuretics and / or adrenocorticosteroids may increase the risk of electrolyte imbalance. Electrolyte imbalance may cause increased sensitivity to cardiac glycosides.
3. HOW BISALAX is used
Always take Bisalax exactly as directed in this leaflet! In children, the product is administered after a doctor's appointment
· Adults and children over 10 years: 1-2 tablets (5-10 mg) per day.
· Children from 4 to 10 years: 1 tablet (5 mg) per day. It is not recommended to take the product for more than 8-10 days.
Preparing for diagnostic procedures and prior to surgical interventions:
· Adults and children over 10 years: 2-4 tablets (10-20 mg) once a day;
· For children 4 to 10 years: 1 tablet in the evening.
If you have the impression that the effect of Bisalax is stronger than expected or insufficient, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. If you take more than the recommended dose
If you take Bisalax at doses significantly higher than usual, the following symptoms of overdose may occur: diarrhea, abdominal cramps including symptoms of hypokalaemia (a decrease in potassium in the blood).
Chronic high doses (chronic overdose) can cause chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, decreased blood potassium levels (hypokalaemia), increased adrenal gland function (secondary hyperaldosteronism), kidney stone disease. There are cases of renal tubular injury, metabolic alkalosis and muscle weakness due to hypokalaemia.
Treatment: stomach lavage (gastric lavage), induction of vomiting, correction of water-electrolyte imbalance, symptomatic remedies. Treatment is done in a hospital setting.

If you miss taking Bisalax, do not take a double dose of the medicine.
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Bisalax can also have side effects. Abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, diarrhea are possible. Allergic reactions to Bisalax have been reported including angioedema (swelling of the soft tissues of the face and neck) and anaphylactic reactions (severe allergic reactions).
