Chance threw Franz and Anne together, and like Lisa she was faced with the great decision.
Though for many years Ellin Berlin has been writing highly praised short stories, this is her first novel. With a remarkably sure hand she has woven the dramatic personal history of Anne and Lisa into a background of social crisis when the security of the elite was shaken by the upheavals of the thirties. The result is a big novel, full of telling incidents and moments of eloquent feeling.
Overall Condition: Good + The book has been read but is in good condition. It has no issues to the cover, including scuff marks, holes or tears. The dust jacket has some wear and is included. The binding has minimal wear. The pages are undamaged with no creasing or tearing, no pencil underlining of text, no highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins.
