Activated charcoal in a package of 100 tablets (dosage 0.25 g) is a classic medical enterosorbent used to cleanse the body. Main characteristics and applications Indications: acute household, food or industrial poisoning, flatulence (bloating), dyspepsia, as well as preparation for an X-ray. How it works: thanks to its porous structure, the drug binds and naturally removes gases, toxins, allergens, heavy metal salts and excess drugs. It is not absorbed into the blood. Contraindications: gastric and duodenal ulcers in the acute stage, gastrointestinal bleeding and hypersensitivity. Method of application and dosage The drug is taken orally 1–1.5 hours before or 2 hours after meals or taking other medications, with water. The sorbent can neutralize the effect of other medications, so the time interval is mandatory. For flatulence and dyspepsia: adults are prescribed 1–3 tablets 3–4 times a day. For poisoning and intoxication: adults are used in a high dose - 20–30 g per dose (this is approximately 80–120 tablets of 0.25 g), crushed and diluted in the form of an aqueous suspension in 0.5–2 glasses of water. The same suspension is suitable for gastric lavage. For children from 3 years old: the usual dose is 2–4 tablets 3–4 times a day (with diarrhea, increase to 4–5 tablets). For children, tablets are always crushed and given in the form of an aqueous mixture.
