One‑of‑a‑kind prototype sealed set from the Year Without A Santa Claus series by Palisades Toys -- This factory sample features the Snow Miser Ice Blue Variant packaged inside a Prototype Heat Miser Box used for internal approvals and retailer submissions. These mismatched prototypes were never intended for public sale and only surfaced during liquidation of the Musicland/Sam Goody/Suncoast chain in the early 2000s in the middle of both company's chaotic collapse. As a double variant , this prototype box created for pre‑release evaluation contains an extremely rare Ice Blue translucent Snow Miser chase figure. Only a handful of these switched‑packaging samples were ever produced, with most destroyed or retained by Palisades employees. This sealed sample is effectively one‑of‑a‑kind , highly sought by Rankin/Bass collectors, historians, and prototype enthusiasts. With Palisades long out of business, pieces like this will never surface again .

Price reflects rarity, but reasonable best offers are welcome for serious collectors.

Additional Information
The beloved 1974 animated children's holiday classic from the studios that brought you Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, The Hobbit and Thundercats. This sequel to the 1970s Santa Claus is Coming to Town, comes to life in this delightful collectible figure set. Includes Snow Miser, Civilian Santa Claus, Jangle Elf, Two Snow Miser Helpers, Toy Pink Elephant and Toy Zebra with detailed character-accurate accessories.

The extremely limited production YWASC collection was largely overlooked and quickly became one of Palisades Toys most sought after lines. Only after release and word of mouth spread did demand grow. By then with no more sets to ship, the holiday season almost over, Palisades in the middle of dismantling, and the Media Play chain imploding, this created a perfect storm; and secondary market prices took hold. Now with the company long out of business, these exclusive figures will never be available again. Together with Jim Henson's Muppets Show, this was truly some of the finest product produced by Palisades during its existence, and remains highly treasured by collectors worldwide even today.

The Year Without A Santa Claus
Sparkly eyed Mrs. Claus (voiced by Shirley Booth) sings and tells about the year her hubby felt too weary and unappreciated to prepare for his annual Christmas rounds. Mickey Rooney voices Santa, a rosy-nosed puppet who travels incognito to Southtown in search of his tiniest reindeer, Vixen, and two well-meaning elves. Mrs. Claus sent them to find proof of Christmas spirit--but all they've discovered is ambivalence about Santa's year off. Luckily, when Santa arrives and befriends a buck-toothed lad named Ignatius Thistlewhite, spirits begin to lift rapidly. Adults will remember it as the Heat and Snow Miser movie. Their vaudevillian theme songs, complete with trombone and piano riffs, are hard to forget, but other treasured musical moments include "I Believe in Santa Claus," "I'll Have a Blue Christmas Without You," and "Here Comes Santa Claus."
