UNITED STATES POSTAGE STAMP WITH BASEBALL LEGEND CY YOUNG ON IT
Single stamp. The stamp was taken from the envelope, but the sticky back clung to a piece of paper. So it get's sold with the paper. I did want to try to separate it from the paper. That would be up to the buyer.
33 cent postage stamp. It has a painting of Cy Young on it in his baseball uniform pitching a baseball on a partly sunny day. Printed in 2000 as part of a series of stamps honoring American baseball legends.
Denton True "Cy" Young (March 29, 1867 - November 4, 1955) was an American baseball player who pitched for five different major league teams (Cleveland Spiders, St. Louis Perfectos, Boston Americans / Red Sox, Cleveland Naps, and Boston Rustlers) from 1890 to 1911. Young was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937. One year after Young's death, the Cy Young Award was created to honor the previous season's best pitcher.
