THIS IS A COMMERCIAL QUALITY DYE. NOT LIKE YOU ACQUIRE IN THE GROCERY STORE WITH LAUNDRY SUPPLIES!
Permanent color treatment for 100% natural fibers, fabrics, yarns and furs. Cotton, Rayon, Wool, Silk, Hemp, Bamboo and all animal fibers. Not for synthetics. Can be use to tub/vat/washing machine dye, paint, tie-dye, batik, screen printing, spray painting, microwave, clouding, marbling......... You can even use this as a wood stain if you plan to use a sealer. The process is only a few steps long and very easy to follow.
I include the instructions for making paint, vat/tub dye, washing machine and microwave paint/dye with each purchase.
This dye permanently bonds with your fabric by chemical reaction, not just coloring or staining your item to be washed or faded out over time. This can be done with soda ash (we do carry this for you) or vinegar and heat. If you use soda ash temperature is not important, you may dye with room temp. If you chose to not use chemicals, you want the vinegar method, you will need to use heat, whether by hot dye bath, or microwave. My 8 year old regularly goes through my personal stash and dyes her clothes on her own. SIMPLE PROCESS!!!
I still have towels, sarongs, summer outfits and some skirts that have been worn many times over a 10 year+ span and they still have true color.
For Tub/Vat dying 1 pound of fabric/fiber Turquoise you will need:
0.64oz of dye. (the contents of this sale)
1 pound rayon, wool, cotton, hemp or other natural fabric/fiber/fur
2 oz of Soda Ash or 2/3 cup white vinegar
non iodized salt
water
To make paint
packet of dye
Urea (not necessary-helps your items stay wet longer)
Sodium Alginate (not necessary-thickens your dye)
Soda Ash or Vinegar
Salt
Color swatch is on 100% cotton sheeting. About a 4oz thickness with no mat or sheen. The hues and depth of color depends a lot on your own personal screens, the medium you are dying and the time and equipment you are using. If exact color is important ALWAYS DO A TEST SWATCH!!! This is an art, so we can not guarantee your end result.
