True Black Acid Dye
This sale is for a pre-measured quantity of Acid Dye to permanently color 1 pound of Silk, Wool, Hair, Fur, Feathers or Nylon
Acid Dyes are a fast acting color for all protein fibers. They are not as easy as our Fiber Reactive Dye and require heat, BUT you use vinegar or citric acid to set the color and they are more reliable on wool and silk than our Procion dyes.
THIS IS A COMMERCIAL QUALITY DYE. NOT LIKE YOU ACQUIRE IN THE GROCERY STORE WITH LAUNDRY SUPPLIES!
This Acid dye is perfect for tub/vat dying with heat(in a hot dye bath on your stove.) Or it can be used for many techniques including microwaving, baking, printing, spraying, painting, squirting, steaming etc.
ITEMS NEEDED TO USE WITH YOUR DYE
FOR SOLID COLOR TUB DYEING
~the contents of this sale
~pound of silk, wool, feathers, nylon or natural hair/fur
~Stainless Steel or Enamel Pot for your stove (not necessary if you are dying in your washing machine.)
~1/4C Vinegar or 1 Tbsp Citric Acid
~water
TO MAKE PAINT
~ Contents of this sale
~4 oz water
~1/4 C Urea(not necessary, wetting agent)
~1 Tbsp Vinegar
~Few Pinches of Sodium Alginate if you would like to thicken your paint
All sales of dye come with complete instructions for immersion dyeing on the stove, washing machine dyeing, steam painting, silk painting, screen printing and stamping.
The color swatches are all done on wool in a pot on the stove. Silk will have a slightly different effect.
Please watch for this "~*~" symbol surrounding the color title on the top of the sale page. This signifies a more difficult and less predictable color to set.
THE FINE PRINT: The sale color title and swatch used for immage are from the manufacturers template. This was created in a hot water bath with vinegar. We purchase our Acid Dye from the manufacturer and keep their industry standard title for the color being listed. WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE YOUR END RESULT.
