Yomesan® is a tapeworm medication and works locally through direct contact with the tapeworm head (scolex). Niclosamide (the active ingredient in Yomesan) inhibits the parasite's internal respiration and the head and the adjacent segments die. As a result, the chain of segments loses its stability and comes off in whole or in small pieces when the stool is passed.
