My camera is just not up to the task of properly portraying the intricate hand work involved in making this lovely hanky. It is totally hand made. Three corners have a tiny whitework flower with 2 dots each.
The fourth corner has some of the finest embroidery and threadwork I have ever seen. The whitework flower is a daffodil, I believe, with another flower or it could be a butterfly and some leaves. The hem is a very fine line of threadwork except for the decorated corner where it is stepped threadwork.
This is a very old hanky and needs a new family to continue its history. It has been very well cared for during its 80 to 90 years. It is made of fine linen that has taken on a soft fine hand but it has no damage.
The hanky is just shy of 12 inches. Ideal for weddings or to tuck into your evening bag. You might not want to dab your mascara with it however.
