JOE HARRIOTT DOUBLE QUINTET UNDER THE DIRECTION OF JOHN MAYER LP

INDO-JAZZ SUITE

Atlantic Records # 1465

Rare, Original Atlantic WHITE LABEL PROMO album, in MONO. The record labels read SAMPLE COPY NOT FOR SALE. This is an original U.S. copy released in 1966. The gatefold cover is made of thick cardboard and has a beautiful glossy front and back cover with great liner notes inside by Charles Fox. Joe Harriott was originally a Jamaican Jazz Musician whose main instrument was the alto saxophone, and he is now widely considered one of the worldwide pioneers of FREE JAZZ. John Mayer is an Indian composer. The material here is described in the liner notes as experimental, but it goes far beyond that by trying to fuse Jazz and Indian music together. This was Mayers first attempt at fusion with Jazz musicians, and the results have to be heard to be comprehended. This is truly an oddity in the Free-Jazz genre. Also still has its original Atlantic Records inner sleeve.

COVER: EX - (EXCELLENT MINUS): Very nice condition. A small amount of surface wear, or a couple of small flaws like minor corner dings or very light creasing, but still top notch. (This cover has one spot of light tag residue where a Promotional sticker fell off)

VINYL: VG ++ (VERY GOOD PLUS): A few visual imperfections or minor flaws. Possible light scuffing or light scratching but not deep. Light audible imperfection may be present. The surface is still clean and retains much of the original gloss and luster.
