Stretch 4-Ply Woven Crepe is a sturdy, medium weight fabric with a beautiful sheen. It is usually used for high-end sportswear, but can also be used for eveningwear and bridal/wedding. The "4-Ply" in the fabric's name refers to 4-ply crepe yarns made of 4 very tightly twisted strands of silk filament fibers used in the warp, or filling, direction of the weave. This fabric is slightly lighter weight than its rigid cousin, with a much smoother surface and a softer drape.

Hand:
Very slightly ridged and texture on face side, smoother on back side - medium weight with soft drape. 2-way stretch in warp direction; approximately 30% size increase when stretched.

Luster:
Velvety sheen due to the way the silk filaments reflect light

Tips & Tricks:
Use with nap cutting layout (i.e. all pattern pieces laid out in the same lengthwise direction) so all pattern pieces reflect light the same way and shading is prevented.
Use standard stitch size and a sharp, fine needle when machine sewing - it's best to use a new needle every time you start a project to ensure sharpness.
You may want to use a stretch stitch (such as a chainstitch or a very tight zig-zag stitch) to retain stretch along seams
If lining this fabric, take care to use a lining with the same amount of stretch in order to maintain the stretch of the 4-ply crepe.
Depending on the garment, some of the finishes you can use are: overlock (serger), binding, rolled hem, hand-stitched or top-stitched hem.

Care:
Dry clean recommended; press on “silk” setting with steam.
