A set of three antique 1858 prints originally published in the Archeology Journal in 1858 , showing a map of the ancient city of Fahan in Kerry and the Dunbeg Fort.
Print 1- Map to illustrate the Ancient City of Fahan in Kerry
Plate 1 shows the map, it is in overall very good condition, with just two small spots of foxing in areas not obscuring details, please see pictures.
This is referenced as printed by Kell Bros, Castle Street Holborn.
Print 2- Wall of Dunbeg Fort ( Looking South)
Plate 2 is in very good condition no signs of foxing, see pictures.
The Lithographer is referenced on the left CF Kell and the printer is Kell Bros, Castle Street Holborn.
Print 3- Titled Cahernamactierech and shows some of the beehive huts from the area.
Plate 3- The lithographer and printer is the same as print 2. Condition wise the print area is very good, there is some foxing at the bottom under the lithographers and printers notifications, the actual print is clear of it, there is a small paper loss at the “M” in the title on bottom of the letter, it has been mounted in line with the title bottom which makes this hard to see. please see pictures.
The three prints have been double mounted, antique white underneath and gold on the outside, this picks up the sepia tone of the prints nicely. The mounts overall are 10 by 12 inches and will fit in frames of this size. with the actual print area of 7 by 5 inches.
