Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There is for sale. Lewis Carroll Through the Looking Glass is the sequel to Lewis Carroll Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This is the second forty-seventh thousand edition of Through the Looking Glass that was published by Macmillan in London in 1880. This edition has 50 iconic Alice and other illustrations by John Tenniel.

The Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass has its original red binding with gilt illustrations. The Through the Looking-Glass front board has a three line gilt border with a John Tenniel illustration of the Red Queen in gilt, and the Through the Looking-Glass back board has a three line border with a John Tenniel illustration of the White Queen also in gilt.  The spine has the title Through the Looking Glass and the publisher’s name Macmillan with a small illustration and a three line border to the top and bottom of the spine, all of which are in gilt.

The Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass original binding is in Very Good condition with light dust staining to the front board, more prominent dust staining to the back board, darkening of the spine, knocks to the top and bottom of the spine, corner knocks, wear to the edges of the spine and very slight shelf lean.  The faults with the binding that is over 130 years of age is relatively minor and makes this a very attractive and collectable vintage Lewis Carroll Alice book.

The Lewis Carroll Through the Looking-Glass pages are in overall Very Good condition with a name for Robert Wylie rubber stamped to the Half Title Page, light age toning to the pages which is not very noticeable, and foxing to the blank page opposite the Half Title Page, offsetting onto the Half Title Page, and foxing to the two blank pages before the rear endpapers. Internally this is a very clean and attractive book with all the pages still firmly bound-in.
