This block was created for the Waldorf grade three or grade five Persian studies unit. However, in the Waldorf (and my) world-view it is also suitable for all ages. You can see some ways I have adapted it by watching the videos. This lesson is very easily adapted to all ages. In Waldorf education the teacher is supposed to provide lessons to their students that reflect their student population and the country or culture those children live in.
Additionally, with the intense relations we have with the Middle East in the news (especially Iran) and with the diversity of culture we have in America, it makes sense to introduce children to the culture of Persia and the Middle East at a young age, as well as delving into it deeper in grade five when the children study ancient cultures. I did the expanded plan with my children and I do the mini version for the local public school system through www.WorldofDifference.com.
