This navy evening bag by Du-Val is just begging you to add a favorite brooch. A gold one for dress-up and rhinestones for glamor. The bag is absolutely plain navy blue waled fabric. It is probably rayon twill but whatever, it is unusually nice fabric.
It is gathered onto a brushed gold tone frame with kiss closure and a box link chain strap for hand or arm wear. This tucks neatly inside if you want to carry as a clutch. The bag is lined in genuine golden ivory satin.
Condition is very good vintage. The bag has been used but carefully. The navy is perfect, the satin has some signs of handling close to the frame. Down deep it is spotless. The frame is quite good. Some paling of the gold at the corners and the kiss knobs have become more two tone than gold. The chain is also quite good. The bag measures 6 x 7½ inches not counting the kiss knobs.
This is a really classic look that you can use forever and by adding different jewels you can change the mood and look each time you carry it. I suggest adding a brooch but I find no sign anyone ever has.
