Native to South Africa, Tecoma capensis or. Tecomaria capensis is an erect, weakly climbing shrub that must be helped to hang on by training it. It perfectly garnishes a fence or a tree. It is called Bignone du Cap or Chèvrefeuille du Cap. It is a bignoniaceae.
Rare plant to bring a touch of color until late in the late season, it flowers from September to November, sometimes even December.
The leaves are opposite, pinnate, slightly toothed, composed of 5 to 9 oblong to oval medium to dark dull green leaflets. They are persistent in their original climate and deciduous at the edge of the hardiness zone.
The flowers are campanulate, narrow in a wide open funnel 6 to 8 cm long in terminal clusters 10 to 15 cm long.
