Espumisan L is a drug against swelling and a feeling of fullness in the abdomen.
Increased formation and accumulation of gases or bowel in the form of retail bubble froth leads to symptoms such as bloating and a feeling of fullness in the abdomen.This is the reason for colic in infants, which are common complaints encountered in about 1/3 of infants.Colic starts a few days after birth and continues until about the third month.It's found both in infants and in those fed with formula.Colic usually start during the same time of the day, oftenly afternoon and at night, with a suddenly strong cry.The child's face reddens, legs shrink to the belly, and the arms are in fists.The child is irritable, excited, restless.
Espumisan L reduces surface tension of gas bubbles and small bubble foam breaks.Released in this way gases can be absorbed by the intestinal wall and are released naturally.
Espumisan L acts in a physical manner, does not change the chemical reactions and is pharmacologically and physiologically inactive, doesn't interact with microorganisms and enzymes.
Espumisan L doesn't influence digestion and does not change the acidity in the stomach.
Espumisan L is used when:
All diseases accompanied by increased formation and accumulation of gas in the gastrointestinal tract (flatulence), accompanied by symptoms such as discomfort, swelling, feeling of heaviness and fullness in the abdomen; colic in infants; excessive intake of air, as for the intake of food and drink leading to increased formation of gas (beans, cabbage, carbonated drinks); heart complaints as a result of upward movement of the diaphragm due to accumulation of gas in the gastrointestinal tract; preparation of the abdominal cavity for imaging (X-ray, ultrasound etc.) and as an addition to the contrast medium in double-contrast radiography; poisoning with detergents (tensides).
2. Before using Espumisan L
Espumisan L should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to the active engredient simethicone or to any other ingredient of the drug.
Use of other drugs
There are no known reactions between this product and others.Pregnancy and nursing.There is no reason to avoid the use of Espumisan® L during pregnancy and nursing.Driving and use of machines
Espumisa® L does not change the response time and does not affect your ability to drive and use machines.
3. How to take Espumisan L
Infants:1ml. (equivalent to 25 drops) Espumisan L is added to the bottle of milk during each meal or with a small spoon before or after each nursing.
Kids between 1-6 years:1ml (equivalent to 25 drops) Espumisan L, 3-5 times a day.
Kids between 6-14 years:1-2ml. (equivalent to 25-50 drops) Espumisan L, 3-5 times a day.
Teens and Adults:2ml. (equivalent to 50 drops) Espumisan L, 3-5 times a day.
Espumisan L is taken during or after a meal, or if necessary at bedtime.
Duration of treatment is determined by the progress of complaints.
If necessary, Espumisan L can be taken for a long time.
For preparation of imaging the abdominal cavity
2ml. (equivalent to 50 drops) Espumisan L, 3 the day before imaging and 2ml. Espumisan L, in the morning on the day of the imaging, unless your doctor recommends otherwise.
In addition to contrast media in imaging
4-8 ml. (equivalent to 100-200 drops) Espumisan L to 1l.of contrast for mediadouble contrast radiography.As an antidote for poisoning with detergents
Dosage is determined by the severity of the poisoning:
Kids: 2.5-10ml. (65 drops to 1/3-rd of the bottle) Espumisan L
Adults: 10-20ml. (1/3-rd to 2/3-rds of the bottle) Espumisan L.
Please note:Before use, shake the bottle well. To dispense hold the bottle upside down.
Espumisan L can be used after operations.
Espumisan L does not contain sugar therefore suitable for diabetics and people with indigestion.If you've overdosed with Espumisan L.You cannot get poisoned if you overdose with Espumisan L, so there are no reasons to worry.
4. Possible side effects:There are no known reactions between Espumisan L and other products.
5. How to store Espumisan L:Store under 30°C.To be contained in a place, out of children's sight!
6. Additional information :The active ingredient is: simeticone.
1ml (25 drops) of emulsion contains 40 mg. simethicone as dimethicone - silicon dioxide 96:4; simethicone (dimesthicone-silicon dioxide 96:4; simeticone).The other ingredients are: polyethyleneglycol 1500 monostearate, glycerol monostearate, sorbic acid, hydroxypropylcellulose, sodium cyclamate, saccharin sodium, banana flavor, purified water.
Shelf life after first opening - 4 weeks.
