Synopsis: The novel tells the story of Trilby OβFerrall, an artistβs model in Paris, who falls under the spell of the compelling Svengali, a musician who trains her voice through hypnosis and turns her into a singing star. The pair travel throughout Europe on successful concert tours, Trilby as La Svengali, the famous singer, and Svengali as the accompanying orchestra conductor. When Svengali falls ill and dies, the spell is broken, and Trilby loses her voice. The story of Trilbyβs total subjugation to Svengali has passed into the realm of popular mythology.
Overall Condition: Ex Library with some of the usual extras. It has some wear to the cover, but its integrity is intact. The first leaf has come apart from the textblock and the last leaf is loose. There is some tanning to the pages and some discoloration. There is no writing in the margins or underlining and highlighting of text, and there are no missing pages or anything that would compromise the legibility or understanding of the text. The illustrations are in fine shape; See images.
